1933 Diexi earthquake

The Diexi Earthquake of 1933 (Chinese叠 溪 大 地震, Pinyin Diexi dizhen there), also earthquakes in a circle Mao (茂县 大 地震, Mao xian because dizhen ) called ereignetet to August 25, 1933 Diexi叠 溪, in today's circle Mao, Regierungsbezirk Ngawa ( Aba ), in southwest China's Sichuan Province. It had a magnitude of M of 7.5.

The earthquake destroyed the town and surrounding villages Diexi in the southeast. It caused many landslides. It killed more than 9,000 people. The old city sank into the Diexi Lake by the landslide resulting in the Min Jiang River.

The epicenter was less than 100 km from the earthquake in Sichuan away in 2008 and was also caused by the Longmenshan Fault on the edge of the Sichuan Basin.
