1934 Mitropa Cup

The Mitropa Cup in 1934 was the 8th edition of the international Cupwettbewerbs. It was attended by the best teams in Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Italy. It was mostly about the winner, runner and cup winners of the respective countries. The participants played in the Cup mode with pure round-trip playing in the major continental football competition in the period before the Second World War. If tied after two games a play was performed. All 16 clubs started in the second round, where the encounters between Sparta Prague and Budapest Hungaria FC had to be repeated. The defending champions FK Austria Vienna defeated there already the Hungarian representative Újpest Budapest.

The final took place in just four days on September 5th and 9th, 1934 in Vienna and Bologna instead. Both finals were run by English referees, as the Italians Hungarian and Czech referee rejected as biased. In the return match which took place in the presence of Bologna's mayor and Mussolini's sons Bruno and Vittorio, lost the Vienna in the 10th minute due to injury already a player and after the page break could also only involved due to an injury as a " statist " a more Vienna. Through this weakening AGC Bologna came to an unexpectedly high victory and after 1932 was the first team for the second time Mitropa Cup - winner. Scorer of the competition this time was Carlo Reguzzoni of the winning team with ten goals.

Second round

The first legs took place on the 12th, 16th, 17th and 19th June and 8 July, the return legs on 16, 23 and 24 June and on July 11, 1934 instead.

Playoffs

The games took place on 26 June and on 1 and 15 July 1934.

1 All three games were canceled by the Mitropa Cup Committee, as the Hungarians had protested against the use of Ferdinand Facsinek because it had recently changed from FC Zurich to Prague, Sparta had not yet fully paid the fee. So Facsinek was not yet a full member of Sparta, and thus not eligible to play. After payment of the balance, the games were played again.

2 Also the sixth game between the two teams did not yield any decision even after extra time. So both clubs agreed on a drawing of lots in which Sparta had the luck on his side, but after the Mitropacup regulations after the third game should have been disqualified.

Quarterfinals

The first legs were on 30 June and on 1 and 18 July, the return matches on 8 and July 22, 1934 instead.

Semifinal

The first legs took place on July 22 and 29, 1934, on 15 and 25, the return games.
