1936–37 AHL season

The season 1936/37, was the first regular season of the International - American Hockey League ( from 1940 American Hockey League - AHL ), which was formed by the merger of the International Hockey League and the Canadian - American Hockey League. During the regular season, eight teams should each 48 will contest, however, the Buffalo Bisons for financial reasons had already after eleven games set the game mode. The top five teams in the league then played in a play-off round to the Calder Cup.

Calder Cup Playoffs

For the play-offs, the five best teams in the American Hockey League qualified. While three teams received a bye in the first play-off round, were the other two teams qualified for from the first play-off round. The first play-off round took place in the best-of -three mode, and then the second-round series between Philadelphia and Springfield. The final itself, and the second-round series of Syracuse and Pittsburgh were, however, played in best- of-five mode.
