1936–37 Football League

The Football League First Division 1936/37, was the 45th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. Manchester City won by three points on the riser Charlton Athletic for the first time in their history the English Championship. The second climber Manchester United had to play next to Sheffield Wednesday the transition to the Second Division. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two newly promoted second division Leicester City and FC Blackpool.

A total of 548 players were used, with Grimsby Town 20 with the least and Manchester United with 31 mustered the most players in league games. 134 newcomers were offset by 145 footballers who most recently came into play in the season 1936/37.

The champion team of Manchester City

In the following list, all players were listed who came for Manchester City in a league game for use during the 1936/37 season. It must be noted that in most cases a minimum number of games will be provided in English football to accept the official champion medal allowed. As regards the specific arrangements prior to the introduction of the Premier League, there is lack of clarity, all the players with an asterisk (*) have been provided which have received no champion medal presumably because of their small contribution. In brackets the number of bets as well as the goals achieved are called.
