Film Festival of Venice

The Venice Film Festival was held for the first time after World War II from 31 August to 15 September, again instead. However, no prizes were awarded.

International Film Festival of Cannes 1946

The Cannes Film Festival was held in 1939 for the first time. However, it was not to carry out due to the political situation in the run-up to the Second World War. This year, the first festival will take place on 20 September to 5 October. An international jury selected the following winners from:

  • International Jury Prize: La Bataille du rail by René Clément
  • Best Actor: Ray Milland for The Lost Weekend
  • Pastoral Michèle Morgan for La Symphonie: Best Actress
  • Best Director: René Clément for La Bataille du rail
