1947–48 League of Norway

The Norgesserien 1947/48 was only the fourth season with an official championship in football in Norway. The championship was 1939/40, not played to the end by the beginning of the invasion of Norway in World War II, so that the current season was the third ended.

Mode

The teams were divided into eight districts (I- VIII). There were a total of eleven groups as three districts were divided into two groups ( IIa, IIb, IVa, IVb, Va, Vb). In a normal game round with home and away matches, the winners of the groups were determined. This then played in a knockout round of the Masters. The districts with two groups (a, b ) determined in a preliminary round return match the respective quarter-final participants.

This season was also the same time to qualify for the launching in the next two-pronged Hovedserien season, replacing the current championship form. There were different groups in each district Qualifikationsmodi: one group ( I) was allowed to send three teams in the new league; the groups IIa, IIb, IVa and IVb, respectively two, Gie groups Vb, VI and VIII each one. The groups III, Va and VII had no qualification opportunities. Strange was that the winners of these groups had to win the championship and then playing against relegation at the same time.

In addition, there was the play-offs in two groups whose participants qualified in the district groups according to the following placement: the first group of groups III, Va, VII; the runners-up of Group Vb, VI, VIII; the third group of groups IIa and IIb and the group Fourth of group I. The groups IVa and IVb had no Relegation participants.

In the two relegation groups of four teams, only the respective group winners reached the Hovedserien 1948/49.
