1948 Davis Cup

The 1948 Davis Cup was the 37th edition of the competition organized by the ITF for men's national teams in tennis. The competition was held in two continental zones of Europe and the Americas zone. The winners of the two zones played a playoff for the final.

In continental playoff to Australia prevailed against Czechoslovakia, but was defeated in the subsequent from 4 to 6 September held the final defending champion United States clearly with 0:5. It was the 16th title of the United States so far, and already the third in a row.

Including the Defender 30 countries took part in the competition. The following teams played to a Final ticket against the defending champion.

Pakistan took part for the first time in the competition. Furthermore, Turkey denied their first encounter after she had been reported in 1946, but was then not started.

In the playoff between the two winners of the continental zones Australia triumphed over Czechoslovakia.

Final

In the final between defending champion United States and Australia, the United States could clearly prevail 5-0. It was the sixth U.S. finals in a row, and the fifth playoff against Australia in series. The United States won the 16th title of the United States so far.
