The 63rd edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1949 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road instead.

This year we presented the repairs of damage to the spectator area at the center court, which dated from the Second World War, done. Each title holder now received a replica of the winning Cup. For the first time a woman was line judge at the Center Court

In the women's doubles Louise Brough Clapp - and Margaret Osborne duPont - won their third consecutive title.

Mixed

In Mixed won the South Africans Sheila Summers and Eric Sturgess.
