1950–51 DDR-Oberliga

The season 1950/51 was the second edition of DDR - Oberliga. Preseason

The previous year Second SG Dresden- Friedrichstadt was dissolved after the 1949/50 season and connected to the BSG VVB tobacco Dresden. This should first start with the former players of SG Dresden- Friedrichstadt in the big leagues. However, since the majority of former team migrated to Hertha BSC or in the FRG, the vacant league place after playoff at the was (initially) awarded relegated zsg Altenburg. After East Berlin became the capital of the GDR and introduced the contract player system in the West Berlin city league, the German Sports Committee (DS ) classified the three East Berlin teams that had qualified for the City League Season 1949/50 (SG Union Oberschoeneweide, VfB Pankow and Lichtenberg SC 47) was also increased in the DDR Oberliga, the order (including VP Dresden) on 18 teams. Course of the season

As in the previous season led the fight for the championship in a final: As the two rivals Turbine Erfurt and Leipzig chemistry were tied at the end of the season, the championship had to be discharged in a playoff.
