1950 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season

The East German Ice Hockey Cup 1950 was held in March 1950 as part of the first winter sports championship in Schierke. Were eligible to participate, the national champion. As in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg no championships were held, were the second and third place of the Saxon Championships (BSG BSG crystal white water or textile Crimmitschau ) awarded to the two vacant starting places. The championships were originally scheduled for February 9 to 12. They were postponed due to the weather.

Qualifying tournament for League 1951

For season 1951, the establishment of a league with six teams was decided by the league. In addition to the five winners of this year's championship should be the place of the Last, the SG Schierke, will be awarded to the winner of a qualifying tournament. In order for the league again a representative from Saxony- Anhalt has in its ranks, the elimination tournament with SG Schierke, BSG MAS Granschütz and BSG KWU hall was occupied exclusively with teams from this country. As a renewed national champion in Saxony-Anhalt, the SG Schierke raised the claim to the sixth place and stayed away in protest of the qualification. The only game of this tournament ultimately won Granschütz against hall with 9:6 after two periods of extension. Finally, neither took a team from the qualification nor the fifth-placed BSG KWU Erfurt participated in the league next year.
