1952–53 DFB-Pokal
The DFB Pokal 1952/1953 was the first Cup, which was held after the Second World War and successor of Tschammer Cup. The Cup began on August 17, 1952 and ended with the final match between Rot-Weiss Essen and Alemannia Aachen at the Düsseldorf Rhein Stadium on May 1, 1953, the Rot-Weiss Essen won 2-1.
It was played with 32 teams á 5 rounds. Level after extra time fixed yet no winner, so a replay was scheduled, where the visiting team then had home advantage. The participating teams qualified via the cups of Regional Associations ( Berlin Cup, North German Cup, South German Cup, German Cup and South West German Cup ) for the DFB Cup.
