1952â€“53 French Division 1
The season 1952/53, was the 15th staging of the professional French football Division 1 champion Stade Reims, who won his second title after 1949.
Were eligible to the clubs who had not completed the preseason worse than 16th place, and the two newly promoted from the second division. Thus, in this season the following teams played for the title:
- Three clubs from the far north ( Lille, CO Roubaix - Tourcoing, Racing Lens )
- Three from the Ile- de -France and Champagne ( Up Stade Français and Racing from Paris to Stade Reims )
- Three from the Northeast (FC Sochaux FC Nancy, FC Metz),
- Three from the West (Le Havre AC, Stade Rennes UC, Girondins Bordeaux),
- Six from the southeast (AS Saint- Étienne, FC Sète, intermediate SO Montpellier, Nîmes Olympique, Olympique Marseille, defending OGC Nice).
First match was August 24, 1952, last day of play May 24, 1953. A " winter break " did not exist.
History, results and tables
