1954–55 Football League

The Football League First Division in 1954/55 was the 56th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. Chelsea won with four points distance to the immediate rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, Portsmouth and Sunderland for the first time in their history the English Championship. Of the two climbers Everton and Leicester City were only the club from Everton the class; with Leicester Sheffield Wednesday had to take the course in the Second Division. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two newly promoted second division Birmingham City and Luton Town.

A total of 526 players were used, with the Chelsea FC, Huddersfield Town and Portsmouth the least and Sheffield Wednesday and Arsenal with 30 aufboten 20 most players in league games. 116 newcomers were offset by 107 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1954/55 season.
