1955–56 Football League

The Football League First Division 1955/56, was the 57th season of the Football League First Division English as the highest football league. Manchester United won with eleven points behind the immediate rivals FC Blackpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers the now fourth English championship in the club's history. Both newly promoted Birmingham City and Luton Town could get the class; instead had to Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United to transition into the Second Division compete. These two teams should be in the following season replaced by the two newly promoted second division Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday.

A total of 522 players were used, with the Burnley FC and Preston North End, the least and the Everton FC and Aston Villa with 27 aufboten 20 most players in league games. 126 newcomers were offset by 115 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1955/56 season.
