1955–56 Oberliga (ice hockey) season
The 1955/56 season of ice hockey league was the eighth season of the highest German Hockey League. German champion EV Füssen, which prevail in the decision which has become necessary match against SC Riessersee and was able to win his fourth successive title.
Since the mode for season 1956/57, as amended, and the league was increased to eleven teams Düsseldorf EC remained the last place SC Weßling, as is the penultimate in the league. In addition, the winner of the playoffs the promotion round, the Mannheim ERC, also increased the loser Kölner EC and the second in the advancement Group South, the EV purchase Beuren, to Oberliga.

Mode
Like last year, the German champions was played in a single round, so each club each played one home and one away match against the other teams. Since the mode for season 1956/57, as amended, and the league should be increased to eleven teams was to dispense with the direct descent of the last placed and the relegation of the second-bottom of the league against the runner-up the promotion round.
