1955 Mestaruussarja

The Mestaruussarja 1955 was the 25th season for the Finnish football championship since the introduction of Mestaruussarja. It was contested among ten teams. Master was KIF Helsinki before Valkeakosken Haka.

For the first time the Finnish Football Cup was played in 1955. In the final, which was played at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, struck on 20 November in front of around 3,000 spectators Valkeakosken Haka second division HPS Helsinki 4-1 after extra time. HPS 1955 but had managed beside the Tampere Ilves -Kissat promotion to the Mestaruussarja.

Playoff against relegation

Since HJK Helsinki and Turku TuTo on the eighth and ninth were tied, there was a playoff against relegation:

  • HJK Helsinki - Turku TuTo 1-0

This HJK Helsinki remained in the Mestaruussarja, TuTo Turku dismounted.

Yrjö Asikainen by Master KIF Helsinki was top scorer of the 1955 Mestaruussarja with 12 hits.
