1956 AFC Asian Cup

The 1st Asian Cup took place from 1 to 15 September 1956 in Hong Kong instead. The winner was South Korea.

Qualification

The qualification was divided into three " groups " organized with three teams. Each group was divided into two rounds by meet the two underdogs in the first round. The winner of the first round, now joined in the " final " against the favorites in the group. The winner of the final round was qualified for the Asia Cup. Hong Kong was set to host the final round.

Israel was no play in the finals, as Afghanistan and Pakistan withdrew.
