1956 Summer Olympics medal table
This table shows the medals of the Olympic Summer Games 1956. The rankings are by number of gold medals won sorted, followed by the number of silver and bronze medals ( lexicographical order ). If two or more countries, an identical medal on balance, they are performed in alphabetical order on the same rank. This corresponds to the system that is used by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
A total of 151 competitions were held. The additional medals were as follows:
- Boxing: In the 10 weight classes, each with 2 bronze medals have been traditionally assigned.
- Athletics: In the high jump of the women were two times silver and no bronze, awarded at the 400 m Men 2 bronze medals.
- Gymnastics: In horse jump of the men and in the floor exercise of women each 2 times gold but no silver were given in the floor exercises for men 3 times silver and no bronze was awarded, was on balance beam 2 times silver and no bronze awarded on bars, on the rings, on the balance beam and in the group exercises was two times awarded bronze respectively.
