1958–59 ice hockey Bundesliga season

The season 1958/59 hockey league was the first season of the newly founded highest German Hockey League, which replaced the league as a top division in the fall of 1958. German champion was the EV Fussen, who was thus able to win his eighth league title and continue his dominance of the Oberliga last years. The first losers were the Düsseldorf EC and SC Wessling, which were replaced by the VfL ​​Bad Nauheim and the ESV Kaufbeuren.

Mode

For the first Bundesliga season, the four top ranked teams in the top leagues north and south of the season in 1957/58 qualified. The eight participating teams played in a single round, so each club each played one home and one away match against the other teams. The two last-place teams went directly into the league and were then replaced by the champions and runners in this division.
