1958 Asian Games

The 3rd Asian Games were held from 24 May to 1 June 1958 in Tokyo instead.

It was attended by 1,820 athletes from 20 different member associations of the Olympic Council of Asia. It 112 competitions were held in 13 sports. Opened the games were by Emperor Hirohito, the former Tennō Japan. The games were held in the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo.

At the Asian Games in 1958 four new sports were added. These were: hockey, tennis, table tennis and volleyball.

The next major event that took place in Tokyo found, six years later, in 1964, instead. It was the Summer Olympic Games in 1964.

Participating nations

In 1958, all countries participating, who participated in 1954, as well as Iran and Nepal, which paused at the last Asian Games.
