1958 World Men's Handball Championship
The 3rd World Handball Championship for Men found in 1958 in the German Democratic Republic ( DDR) instead.
The Swedish national team to the world title in 1954 by a landslide victory in the finals to defend against the Czechoslovakian team, the all-German selection in third place; as with the previous World Cup in 1954 featured the two German umbrella organizations, the German Handball Federation of the Federal Republic of Germany ( FRG) and the German Handball Association of the GDR a joint team.

The first two teams in each group qualified for the main round.

The matches of Group A were held in Erfurt.

Berlin hosted the group B.

The Group C matches were played in Magdeburg.

The Group D games were held in Rostock.
Main Round
The top two teams of each group reached the main round. The teams from groups A and D in the group, the teams came out of the qualifying groups B and C in group 1, 2 The result from the direct competition of teams from the same preliminary group was taken over in the main round.
