1959 Allsvenskan

The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1959 was the 35th season of the highest Swedish football league Fotbollsallsvenskan.

In 1959 the Swedish championship was first played in the Allsvenskan within the calendar year. Not least because of the great success of the Swedish national team at the 1958 World Cup in their own country, jumped out as the vice world champion, the league reached an average attendance of 13,369 the best result in league history. After 22 matchdays Djurgårdens IF was the sixth time in the club's national champion. Halmstad BK and GAIS Gothenburg had to start the transition into the second class Division 2.
