The 79th U.S. National Championships were held from 4 to 13 September in 1959 in the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, New York, USA.

Defender of the single were Ashley Cooper in the men's and Althea Gibson with the ladies. In the men's doubles were Alex Olmedo and Hamilton Richardson, in women's doubles Jeanne Arth and Darlene Hard, the defending champion. Neale Fraser and Margaret Osborne duPont was the defending champion in mixed doubles.
