1961–62 Nationalliga A season
The 1961/62 season was the 24th regular hosting of the National League A, the top Swiss league in hockey. For the first time in their history, the EHC Visp was Swiss champion, while the EHC Basel- Rotweiss Although sporty descent into NLB, but later still reached the league for next season due to an increase of league two teams.
Mode
Like last year, the league was held in a common main round. Each of the eight teams played in home and away leg against each group opponent, bringing the total number of matches per team was 14. The first table was swiss champion, during the last table had to compete for the league against the best second division side in the relegation. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw one point. At a loss to give any points.

- EHC Basel- Rotweiss - Villars HC
The HC Villars sat down as the best second division originally in the relegation against the EHC Basel- Rotweiss by, however, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation decided subsequently to the League for the following season to two teams to increase, thereby Basel but yet reaching relegation. In addition to Basel and Villars and the NLB runner EHC Kloten was allowed to ascend to the NLA.
