1963 Norwegian First Division

The first Divisjon 1963 was the 19th season of Norway's highest football league and the first season under the name 1 Divisjon. The season began on April 26, 1963 and ended on 13 October 1963. She was thus the first to be held in a calendar year ( spring to autumn, not like in the previous years, from summer to summer with a long winter break in between).

Since the 1961/62 season served as a qualifier for the new 1 Divisjon, it was also the first season with a one-track Championship League in the new mode.

The leader after the first leg round took part in the European Champions Cup. This arrangement was made, as this corresponded to the time of the end of the regular season of the European leagues.

Season

Brann Bergen was the second time Norwegian champion.

At the beginning of the season, Steinkjær I & FK took the lead and was able to hold there with four games. Then, however, took over the leadership Lyn Oslo. At times they had five points clear. After the first round, however, they no longer played so constant and so Brann Bergen came closer and closer. On 16 Matchday finally lapped Lyn Oslo and gave no more off the tour.

As a leader after the first round Lyn Oslo took part in the European Champions Cup.

Of the two climbers only FK Gjøvik / Lyn had to descend again. Sarpsborg FK could stay in the league.
