The 77th edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1963 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road instead.
This year, the scheme was introduced, that the clothing of the players for the most part must be white. After the second Saturday it rained all day, the finals of all four competitions were held on the following Monday.
Men's Singles
For men the American Chuck McKinley won. He sat down in the final in three sets against Fred Stolle through and won his only title at a Grand Slam tournament.
Women's Singles
The Australian Margaret Smith Court won her first of three singles titles at Wimbledon. Overall, she won until 1973 at Grand Slam tournaments 24 individual titles, and beyond even 19 titles in doubles.
Men's doubles
The men's doubles were won by the Mexican Rafael Osuna and Antonio Palafox.
Women Doubles
In the women's doubles Maria Bueno, and Darlene Hard were successful.
Mixed
In Mixed Margaret Smith Court and Ken Fletcher won.
