1964 Norwegian First Division

The first Divisjon 1964 was the 20th season of Norway's highest football league and the second season under the name 1 Divisjon. The season began on 24 April 1964 and ended on 4 October 1964.

Mode

The ten teams played in a simple round with round-trip game against each other so that each team completed 18 games. Master was the Leading after the last matchday. The last two teams had to dismount.

The qualification for the European Champions Cup presented this season a oddity: Both the leader after the first leg round ( for the competition of the European Cup of Champions 1964/65 ) and the master at the end of the season ( for the competition of the European Cup of Champions 1965 / 66) took part. This regulation led for the future means that more of the actual champion took part in this competition, not as before the " half-time champion ".

Season

SFK Lyn was first Norwegian masters.

Since the third match, the team of Lyn was at the head. At times they had five points clear. Already on 16 Matchday they secured the championship.

Because SFK Lyn took the lead after both the first round and at the end of the season, they qualified for the next two seasons for the European Champions Cup.

Final Table
