1965–66 Czechoslovak Extraliga season
The season 1965/66 1st League was the 23rd regular hosting of the highest Hockey Class of Czechoslovakia. With 56 points sat by ZKL Brno. For the team it was their eleventh overall Czechoslovak championship.
Mode
In contrast to the previous season, the number of participants was reduced by two to ten teams that contested the entire season in a common main round. Each team played four games against every other team, so that the total number of matches per team was 36 games. Champion was the winner of the Main Round. The-table rose directly from the 2nd league.

Best scorer in the league was in January of Dukla Jihlava Klapáč, who scored 41 goals in the 36 games of his team.

The winners of the four second division groups, VTZ Chomutov, Motorlet Prague, Ostrava and Dukla Trenčín VŽKG played in home and away leg for admission to the first league for the following season. Here, VŽKG Ostrava sat by eleven points and rose to the first league.
