1966–67 European Cup

The European Champions' Cup 1966/67 was the 12th edition of the competition. 33 club teams participated, including 32 national champion of the previous season with Real Madrid of the defending champion. For the first time took a team from the Soviet Union in the competition.

The participants played in the pure Cup mode (except for the final) round-trip games for the crown of European club football. Case of a tie, there was a playoff on neutral ground. Because of the new participant record of 33 teams had to start in a newly qualifying round four teams. Apart from Real Madrid started then all other teams in the first round.

The final took place on 25 May 1967 at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, near Lisbon in front of 45,000 spectators instead. Celtic won 2-1 against Inter Milan for the first time the trophy and was the first non- Southern European club that won this item. Scorers were Paul Van Himst of RSC Anderlecht and Jürgen Piepenburg FC Vorwärts Berlin with six hits.

The first legs were held until December 7, the return matches from 8 November to 14 December 1966 by October 25.

The first legs took place on February 15 / 1 March, the return matches from the 1st to 15th March 1967.

Semifinal

The first legs were 12./19. April and the return matches on 25-26. April 1967 instead.
