1967–68 European Cup Winners' Cup

The European Cup Winners 'Cup 1967/68 was the eighth competition playout of the European Football Cup Winners' Cup. 32 club teams from 31 countries took part, including defending champions Bayern Munich, who took the same time as acting DFB Cup winners, another 27 reigning Cup winner and five losing cup finalists ( Aberdeen FC, FC Lausanne-Sport, Torpedo Moscow, NAC Breda and Hamburg).

From Germany were next to the defending champion and current DFB Cup winners FC Bayern Munich still the finalist Hamburger SV at the start, as the defending champion would have been entitled to start anyway. For the GDR, the BSG Motor Zwickau took as fdgb Cup winner from Austria ÖFB Cup winners FK Austria Wien and from Switzerland Cup finalist FC Lausanne-Sport in the competition.

The final contest of the AC Milan and Hamburg SV in the Feyenoord Stadium in Rotterdam on 23 May 1968. AC Milan beat off by two early goals from Kurt Hamrin 2-0. By the finals of the HSV could reach the final for the only time in four consecutive seasons, the representatives of an association.

Scorer was Uwe Seeler Hamburger SV with eight goals.

Mode

The participants played as usual in pure Cup mode with return games the winner. Was there after two games Torgleichstand, the number of away goals scored decided ( away goals ). The first legs took place from November 8 to 30, the second legs take place from 14 November to 14 December 1967.

Quarterfinals

The first legs took place on 14./21./28. February and 6 March, the return matches on 13./19. March 1968 instead.

Playoffs

The games were held in Hamburg, Milan and Augsburg on March 20, 1968.

Semifinal

The first legs took place on April 24 / 1 May the return matches on 1 / 8 May 1968 instead.
