1968–69 AHL season
The 1968/69 season was the 33rd regular season of the American Hockey League ( AHL ). During the regular season, eight teams played each 74 games. The top six teams in the AHL then played in a play-off round to the Calder Cup.

Calder Cup Playoffs
Mode
For the play-offs, the six best teams in the American Hockey League qualified. In the first play-off round in each of the second in the Eastern or Western Division met with the third party and the two division winners came together. The two winners of the duels of the teams ranked two and three then met each other in the second round, while the winner of the duel between the two division winners qualified automatically by a bye to the final. The first two play-off rounds took place in the best- of-five mode, with the two division winners in the Best-of -Seven mode played for the finals. The final itself was also played in the best- of-seven mode.
