1970–71 Czechoslovak Extraliga season

The season 1970/71 1st League was the 28th regular hosting of the highest Hockey Class of Czechoslovakia. In the playoff finals, the Army Sports Club Dukla Jihlava sat with 3-0 victories against by the ZKL Brno. For the team it was their fifth in total Czechoslovak championship. The Škoda Plzeň TJ rose as Table from the second division, while the TJ Gottwaldov in the League qualification secured promotion to the 1st League.

Mode

As in the previous season the league was played with ten teams. Since each team fought out against each group opponent each two home and away games, the total number of matches per team was 36 games in the main round. Then, the top four teams played differently than in previous years in the playoffs the masters from. During the semi-finals in the Best-of -Seven mode took place, the final in the best- of-five - mode, and the game has been played for 3rd place in the best-of -three mode. The-table of the main round went straight into the respective national championship.

Best scorer of the main round was January Havel Spartak CKD Prague, who scored 32 goals in the 36 games of his team.

The winners of the three second division groups, VTZ Chomutov, TJ Dukla Trenčín and Gottwaldov, as well as the best runners-up spot I. ČLTK Prague played in home and away leg for admission to the first league for the following season. Here, Gottwaldov prevailed with ten points.
