1970–71 Swedish Division I season

The 1970/71 season was the 27th season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish hockey league. Champion for the sixth time overall in club history Brynäs IF. Heffner / Ortvikens IF, Skellefteå AIK, Västerås IK and AIK Fagersta descended to the second division.

Mode

In the main round of the league was divided into two groups ( North and South). Each of the eight teams in each group completed a total of 14 games. The top four teams from each group qualified for the final round, in which the Master was played. The four last placed each group had to compete in a relegation round, both groups performed their own relegation round. The two last placed each relegation round up from the second division. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
