1970 Copa Libertadores
The Copa Libertadores 1970 was the 11th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 17 teams took part. It took each of the national champions of CONMEBOL countries and the second part, or the winners and finalists of the Cup competition in Bolivia, since there is no national championships still took place. Brazil did not participate. The field was completed by defending champion Estudiantes de La Plata. The tournament began on 11 February and ended on 27 May 1970 with the final second leg. The Argentine representative Estudiantes de La Plata won the final against CA Peñarol and was able to defend his title from last year.
