1971–72 1.Lig

Turkish soccer champions of the 1971/72 season was as in the previous season Galatasaray, the fifth overall championship this team. For the first time in the history of the Turkish league goal difference was introduced by the Turkish Football Association this season. In case of equality of at least two teams, the goal difference was taken into account.

Was runner Eskişehirspor due to the new rule. Another innovation was that in the coming season could participate 1972/73 two teams in the UEFA Cup.

İstanbulspor and Karşıyaka SK were relegated to the second league.
