1971–72 ice hockey Bundesliga season
The 1971/72 season of ice hockey league was the 14th season of the highest German Hockey League. German champion was the Düsseldorf EC, which was able to celebrate their second title. The defending EV Füssen finished the season in second place. Since the former Meister Preussen Krefeld withdrew for financial reasons from the league before the start of the season, started the game operation this year with only nine teams. With the record champions Berliner SC and the league runner-up, the EV Rosenheim, but increased after the season two clubs in the Bundesliga.

Mode
Like last year, the teams played in a double round of the German champions, so each club played two home and two away matches against other teams. The last placed athlete was supposed to stay in Serie A at the end of the season, by the withdrawal of Prussia Krefeld of the German Ice Hockey Federation, however, both the champion and the runner-up of the league decided to include in the Bundesliga.
