1971 Copa Libertadores

The Copa Libertadores 1971 was the 12th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 21 teams took part. It took each of the national champions of CONMEBOL countries and the second part, or the winners and finalists of the Cup competitions in Brazil and Bolivia, as there is no national championships were still held. The field was completed by defending champion Estudiantes de La Plata. The tournament began on January 29 and ended on June 9, 1971 with the final decider. The Uruguayan representative Nacional Montevideo won the final against Estudiantes de La Plata and won for the first time this competition.
