1972–73 IHL season
The 1972/73 season was the 28th regular season of the International Hockey League. During the regular season, nine teams 73-74 games contested. In the play-offs, the Fort Wayne Komets prevailed and won the third Turner Cup in their history.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Saginaw Gears were added as an expansion team in the league.
- The Des Moines Oak Leafs were sold and changed their name to Des Moines Capitols.
