1972 Norwegian First Division

The first Divisjon 1972 was the 28th season of Norway's highest football league and the tenth season under the name 1 Divisjon. The season began on April 23, 1972 and ended on 15 October 1972.

Mode

The League was from this season of twelve teams that played against each other in a simple round with round-trip game, so that each team completed 22 games. Master was the Leading after the last matchday. The last three teams had to dismount.

Viking Stavanger was the second time Norwegian champion.

From first to last game Viking led the table. Halfway through the season, their lead was four points continuously. Toward the end, however, she lost this again to a point. On the final day finally handed them a draw to be on goal difference over champions Fredrikstad FK.

Of the climbers FK Mjølner, Mjøndalen IF and only Skeid FK Mjølner had to descend again.
