1973–74 2nd Bundesliga (ice hockey) season

The 1973/74 season the second hockey league was the first season the second highest German ice hockey league under the Bundesliga. The Master ESV Kaufbeuren went straight into the top flight and was replaced by the Bundesliga last Augsburger EV. The last place EV Ravensburg, however, was relegated to the Oberliga, from which the EC Peiting qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga.

Mode

At the first season, the two relegated took out the ice hockey Bundesliga 1972/73 and the teams from No. 2 to 9 of the hockey league 1972/73 part. The league was played out single track and in the form of a double round so that each club two home and two away matches against other teams played. The Master went straight to the Bundesliga, while the last placed athlete was relegated to the Oberliga and was replaced by the winner of the promotion round.
