History, results and tables

It was the two- point rule; case of a tie, the goal difference was the decisive factor for the placement. An additional bonus point awarded each team regardless of the outcome of the game for each game in which they had scored at least three goals; by the attacking football should be encouraged.

In the first round showed indeed that Saint- Étienne was remodeling his team played in the number of 20 -year-old, succeeded; but after completion of the first round the ASSE pointed to only a point ahead of Angers and Nantes and two ahead Lens. The SCOA had developed into a serious competitor, especially thanks to its gaming arm Guillou and the best attack of Division 1, the top scorer from the Troika Antic / Berdoll / Edwige stood out. Berdoll shot at Angers ' 4-0 first-leg victory against Saint -Étienne all four goals, a figure that in this season Brown at Metz ' was 5:1 succeeded over the eventual champions. But in the second half was Angers too often to " buy the cutting ". And Nantes persisted even longer step before Saint- Étienne by a final sprint - could sell - yet only one defeat in the last 14 games. After completion of the matches of the young team from Saint- Étienne also won the cup final, and thus the third Doublé their club's history.

Although the bonus point scheme meant for some weak teams attack a certain problem and cost Rennes - the Bretons benefited first 27 on match of this innovation - and Nîmes, the team with the best defense, a place in the top third of the table. But associated with it hope for a significant increase of number of goals and attractiveness of the league was not fulfilled; for she had a razor thin in running relegation battle - the Eleventh parted ultimately only two points from the Eighteenth - decisive effect. Nancy believed himself after the final whistle of his last season encounter already saved because it 3-1 over Lyon the Lorena even brought three points. But shortly after met the results of a competitor: Troyes had set back in Sedan to ten minutes before the end of 0:4, but then shot three gates, and Monaco came in Reims taking the wheels, but "only" 4:8 what two losers each earned a bonus point and Nancy to convicted on goal difference, together with Paris and Sedan to Division 2 dismount. From there, returned to the following season the OSC Lille, Red Star FC and Paris Saint- Germain back in the first division.
