1973–74 NHL season
The NHL 1973/74 season was the 57th season in the National Hockey League. 16 teams each played 78 games. The Stanley Cup won by the Philadelphia Flyers after a 4-2 victory in the final series against the Boston Bruins. Six years had the " Original Six " for supremacy in the NHL claims and in the seven-year itch they were obtained. Led by center Bobby Clarke and Bernie Parent Goalie secured by they had won the title. Still early in the season had the fans Parent, who had returned from the WHA, booed. In the WHA Gordie Howe now laced his skates and played with his sons Marty and Gordie in Houston. Another veteran was a year before returning to the NHL. Tim Horton was the second- oldest player in the NHL but still one of the best. As a welcome gift he had received from the Sabres a Ford Pantera. On the way home from a game in Toronto Horton died as a result of a traffic accident.
