1974–75 in English football

The Football League First Division 1974/75 was the 76th season of the Football League First Division as the highest English football league. Derby County won with two points distance to the previous year's runner-up FC Liverpool now his second English championship. Of the three climbers Middlesbrough FC, Luton Town and Carlisle United only club from Middlesbrough was able to keep the class; Luton and Carlisle, however, had next to Chelsea the transition to the Second Division compete. These three clubs should be replaced the following season by the three newly promoted second division Manchester United, Norwich City and Aston Villa.

A total of 472 players were used, with Derby County with 16, the least and Newcastle United with 29 mustered the most players in league games. 105 newcomers were offset by 89 footballers who most recently came into play in the season 1974/75.
