1975–76 ABA season

The ABA 1975/76 season was the ninth and final season of the American Basketball Association. The ABA shortened the time of the training timer of 30 seconds to 24 seconds, to conform to the National Basketball Association. The season started on 24 October 1975. At Play operating participated 9 teams, of which only 7, the season ended. Each team completed 84 games. The four best qualified for the playoffs. On 13 May 1976, the season ended with the ABA Championship. The New York Nets defeated in the finals of the Denver Nuggets for the second time and were masters of the ABA.

Season notes

  • The Memphis Sounds moved to Baltimore, Maryland and played there as Baltimore Claws. After three preseason games they have been resolved, because they could not pay bills.
  • The San Diego Conquistadors were replaced by the San Diego Sails.
  • During the season, the Utah Stars and the San Diego Sails stopped the game operation.
  • The Virginia Squires were dissolved immediately after completion of the regular season.
  • When ABA All-Star Game in 1976 the Denver Nuggets 144-138 win against the All-Stars.
  • When ABA All-Star Game in 1976 there was the first Slam Dunk contest.
