1975–76 DFB-Pokal

DFB Cup winner in 1976 was the Hamburger SV. This title was the beginning of many successes of the hamburger in the next few years. A year later won the Hamburg the European Cup Winners' Cup, for which they qualified by this DFB Cup victory. The 1-0 win was surprising especially in Munich in the semi-final replay. From 1978/79 the team dominated beside the FC Bayern and the Bundesliga. Defending champion Eintracht Frankfurt was eliminated in the second round against Hertha BSC.
