1975–76 European Cup Winners' Cup

The European Cup Winners 'Cup 1975/76 was the 16th edition of the competition of European Football Cup Winners' Cup. It was attended part 32 club teams from 32 nations, including 25 domestic cup winners and seven losing Cup Finalists ( Djurgårdens IF, Atlético Madrid, RC Lens, SK Sturm Graz, FK Borac Banja Luka, Panathinaikos Athens and Haladás Szombathely ). Albania reported no team. Defending champion Dynamo Kiev in 1974 won the championship of the Soviet Union and thus qualified for the European Cup of Champions 1975/76. A title defense was therefore not possible.

From Germany were DFB-Pokal winner Eintracht Frankfurt, from the GDR fdgb Cup Winner BSG Sachsenring Zwickau, from Austria ÖFB Cupfinalist SK Sturm Graz and from Switzerland FC Basel at the start.

Due to their final victory on home turf in Brussels, Anderlecht won the first European Cup for Belgium.

Scorer was the Dutchman Rob Rensenbrink from the title winner RSC Anderlecht with 8 gates.

Mode

The participants played as usual in pure Cup mode with return games the winner. Was there after two games Torgleichstand, the number of away goals scored decided ( away goals ). Was also equal in number to an extension took place in the return game in which was also the away goals rule. Ruled by the end of the extension is still a tie, a penalty shoot-out was performed. The final was decided on one game at a neutral venue. If the score is level after extra time the winner would also have been determined in a penalty shootout.

First round

The first legs took place on 16-17. September, the second legs take place on 30 September to 2 October 1975.

2nd round

The first legs took place on November 5, 1975 October 22, the return games.

Quarterfinals

The first legs were held on March 17, 1976 March 3, the return games.

Semifinal

The first legs were held on March 31, the return legs on April 14th place in 1976.
