1975 Pan American Games

The VII Pan American Games were held in the Mexican capital Mexico City from 12 to 26 October 1975. The city was thus after 1955 for the second time hosting the Games.

Originally, the Chilean capital of Santiago had been entrusted with the alignment. However, difficulties in the funding and political unrest forced the organizers to abandon. Then, São Paulo has been named as host. Financial problems and the onset of a meningitis epidemic led on 17 October 1974 a return of the Games. On 19 October 1974, the PASO finally named Mexico City as host.

Central competition venue was the Aztec Stadium. Successful nation were the United States with a total of 247 medals.
