1976 Canada Cup
The Canada Cup 1976 ( French Coupe Canada 1976) was the first start of the competition the same name. He was held in North American cities Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, Winnipeg and Philadelphia from 2 to 15 September 1976. The tournament was called to the idea of Alan Eagleson to life and organized. The International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF, the North American professional league National Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey Association Canadian Hockey Association supported the competition.
At the first edition of the competition participated in six teams. Canada won the tournament by two wins in the final series against Czechoslovakia. The best scorer of the tournament was the Russian Viktor Schluktow with five goals and nine points. The Canadian Bobby Orr was elected Most Valuable Player.

The six best teams in the IIHF World Ranking internal participated in the competition.
Mode
The six teams played in the first round in a single round, the rankings from, so each team played five games. For a victory, there were two points with a tie, both teams received one point each. The two best teams in the point group of six qualified for the finals. The final was played in the mode " Best-of- Three".

Awards
As a Most Valuable Player of the tournament, the Canadian Bobby Orr was excellent. The offensive defender Orr as well as top scorer Victor Schluktow scored nine points scorer, which he reached by two goals and seven assists. In addition, he was also appointed to the All- Star team.
