1977–78 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season

The East German Ice Hockey Championship 1977/78 gave the SC Dynamo Berlin an unchallenged title hat-trick and the sixth triumph overall. In a one-sided league round, the capital city dominated the rival White water almost at will and so decided already to the middle of the next ten games on the championship series. The Lusatians turn succeeded not only victory, resulting in the 1970/71 season was unique to date since the introduction of this tournament format.

With monsator Berlin another team from the capital celebrated a hat-trick. Meanwhile, undefeated in the GDR best determination for four seasons, the former squad consisting of players from the SC Dynamo team held harmless this time and won uncontested before the resurgent rival duration of Crimmitschau.

Relegation was held until the next season in Crimmitschau in the A-Group Best Determination 1979.

The BSG Leuna was therefore able in 1979 to start in the B group of GDR best investigation, which began four weeks after this relegation.
