1977–78 Football League Cup

The League Cup 1977/78 was the 18th edition of the existing since 1960 League Cup.

The competition started on August 13, 1977 with the First Round and ended with the replay in the final at Old Trafford on 22 March 1978. The winner of the competition Nottingham Forest was a 1-0 victory in the deciding game against Liverpool. The first division Movers thus secured the title for the first time in this competition.
